Those Daily Routines

So much of our time is spent in preparation, so much in routine, and so much in retrospect, that the amount of each person's genius is confined to a very few hours
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

How many things do you do routinely? When does routine cross the line and become obsessive? When I take a shower I always do the same things in the same order, wash the hair, condition the hair, wash the left arm, wash the right arm. I even dry off in the same pattern every day. Routines are comfortable, they make you feel safe, but they can also stifle and limit you. When you begin to turn down or avoid new experiences for fear of upsetting the routine you have crossed the line.
